Listening Skills: The Inca Cola Conundrum

If you ask a woman what causes the most issues in her relationship with her significant other, her answer will come out like a reflex...LISTENING. The sad truth of it is that men often don't have the strongest listening skills. My favorite example of this in my own relationship is the infamous "Inca Cola Conundrum" as I like to call it.

I suppose I should preface this story with the fact that Joey LOVES a soda called "Inca Cola." Inca Cola, also known as "Golden Cola" is a Peruvian soft drink that is yellow in color and tastes kind of like bubblegum. So continuing with the story...

Joey, our roommate Ryan, and I had planned to have a party one evening. As Ryan and I were heading out to buy "drinks" for the gathering, we asked Joey if he wanted us to pick up anything for him. After attempting to ask him four times, he finally looked up, with a face of pure horror, and asked..."Did you drink my Inca Cola?"

I said no and relieved, he turned back to his computer. I attempted to explain that we were going to purchase alcoholic beverages and again asked if he wanted us to pick anything up for him. Again he looked over and said, "So wait, you DID drink it?"

This went on for about five more minutes before he fully grasped the concept of what Ryan and I were attempting to tell him.

Finally, Ryan and I gave up and brought him back a bottle of bourbon, not before hiding his Inca Cola...

Now this was far from the first time he didn't listen and I'm sure it won't be the last...so here's my advice to all of you guys out there. If you're going to ignore what your girlfriend is saying, at least try to grasp her concept. It makes life a lot easier....
