How we met...

So here's a little bit of history about how Joey and I met. During my freshman year of college, I worked a great deal with a local organization which built homes for low-income families in our community. It was my first time leading a group on my own during a build, and I was incredibly excited about the opportunity.

At 5 a.m. sharp on an incredibly cold February morning, I stood outside a coffee shop waiting for my crew to assemble. We were about to leave when two very tired, very hungover guys approached. With coffee in hand, Joey mustered all of the enthusiasm he could and attempted to "fire up" his buddy and the rest of our team about how incredible the homeowners would feel once their new place was completed. Wincing at the sound of every nail being hammered into the beams of the home and covering his ears at the sound of the circular saws, I was impressed at how well Joey was able to function, under the circumstances. His sense of humor and enthusiasm towards helping others struck me right away. After laughing about his buddy's ruthless attempts to pick up my co-leader, Joey and I convinced her to humor him and hang out after the build.

After spending some time together that evening Joey and I became friends. It has been almost four years since we first met and in that time we have became best friends, lived across the hall from one another in the dorms, and finally made the decision to date and to move in together. Right in time for the Inauguration of Obama, change came my way and my best friend/boyfriend moved in with me. Although it's taken some getting used to, I love having Joey around 24/7 and can't imagine my life without him.
